IPI Pulls In $1 Billion+ through July

Imperial Pacific International’s new resort casino on the Pacific island of Saipan has generated more than $1 billion in gross gaming revenue from January through July 2017, says a local newspaper.

.4 million in taxes in seven months

The Saipan Tribune, citing documents from the Commonwealth Casino Commission of the Northern Mariana Islands, reports that Imperial Pacific International has raked in more than $1 billion in gross gaming revenues for the first seven months of 2017 at its recently opened casino resort on Saipan.

Factoring in a 5 percent business gross revenue tax, IPI paid the government a total of $53.4 million for the period from January through July, the Tribune reported.

The action was liveliest in January, when the casino hauled in GGR of more than $327.3 million. By comparison, April was a slow month, yielding just over $56 million. The momentum returned in May, when the casino brought in more than $242.5 million.

In July, the casino moved from its temporary location at the T Galleria mall in Garapan to the luxury Imperial Pacific Resort. Gross gaming revenues were up almost 48 percent after the move, reaching $133.2 million for the month.
