Island of Jersey Gives Out First Online Gambling License

Channel Island Jersey has awarded its first online gambling license to Twelve40. The company focuses on lottery play internationally and helps existing lotteries offer an online component.

Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, has awarded its first online gaming license to lottery software provider Twelve40.

The company focuses on adding an online component to small and medium-sized lotteries around the world.

Twelve40 was granted its license by the Jersey Gambling Commission, which requires operators to guarantee a reliable and fair service to their customers, provide methods of dealing with problem gambling and to set strict age verification controls.

Jersey Gambling Commission chief executive Jason Lane said that the recent changes made to the United Kingdom’s online gambling licensing system have made many companies turn to Jersey as an alternative.
