Italian Online Gambling Flat For 2014

According to statistics from the Italian Observatory on Online Gaming Italian gamblers spent $769 million online in 2014, up only 0.1 percent over 2013. Online poker revenue showed a decline.

Online gambling in Italy remained relatively flat as gamblers wagered 9 million, only a 0.1 percent increase over 2013.

The statistics come from the Italian Observatory on Online Gaming report prepared by the University of Milan.

According to the report, casino action generated 255 million euros or 31.5 percent of all online action, a rise of 7 percent on 2013. Betters spent 14 million euros on sports bets, 108 million euros on poker cash games and 70 million Euros on poker tournaments.

Online poker continues to decline in Italy as cash game revenues dropped 21 percent year-on-year while tournament poker fell 18 percent. Online poker accounts in the country dropped from 303,000 in 2013 to 247,000 in 2014.
