Italy’s online gaming market hit a five-month low in April.

Revenues dropped to €288.1 million (US$349.3 million) a decrease of 8.7 percent from March. However, it was an 85.5 percent increase from the same month in 2020.

The figures indicate that although Italy’s market has grown strongly the last five years, it is subject to seasonal declines. For example, a decline in sports betting took the market down with it in April. Sports wagers were €103.5 million, one of the worst totals for April, and a 21.7 percent drop from March.

PokerStars led the online casino, tournament poker and cash poker markets: 10.48 percent, 51.28 percent and 43.58 percent, respectively.
