Government expects an added €1,107 billion

Italy’s senate has approved amendments to the national gaming law, according to the website Pokerfuse.com.

The amendments for 2016, which passed by a vote of 164-116 with two abstentions, include a 2 percent increase in AWP taxes and a 0.5 percent increase on VLTs, as well as an increase in the overall gaming tax. These taxes alone are expected to add €600 million to the government’s share.

An additional €507 million is expected to be raised through the renewal of contracts which expire in 2016, the website reported, for a total expectation of €1,107 billion. The contracts pertain to some 15,000 sports betting corners and shops, 210 bingo halls and 120 online gaming licenses.
