Last Tuesday, Landing International Development shareholders approved a new name for the Hong Kong-listed casino operator, changing it to Shin Hwa World Ltd.
The operator of Jeju Shinhwa World, a foreigners-only casino resort in South Korea, will change its stock ticker, logo and website as well.
According to GGRAsia, the name change was first announced in October, when the company said it would “better reflect the current status of the group’s business development and its direction of future development.
“The proposed change of company name can provide the company with more accurate corporate image and clearer identity,” Landing added at the time.
In other news, last month the company suspended “all administrative and executive duties and powers” of Yang Zhihui, the company’s chairman and executive director, effective November 18. Yang is also the firm’s majority shareholder. The suspension followed a court petition against Yang by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong regarding his role in a separate company.
In August, the firm posted a half-year net loss of nearly HKD105.4 million (US$13.4 million), compared to a loss of HKD623.7-million in the previous year.
