Jack Detroit Sign Replacing Greektown

On September 30, a helicopter will lift position a new sign atop Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit, as the property moves toward becoming Jack Detroit by May 2018. Other changes will include 1,500 signs, the new, six-option Monroe Market dining area and a new casino bar. Jack Entertainment purchased Greektown in 2013.

Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit officially will become Jack Detroit in May 2018, but new signage will be positioned on September 30, when a helicopter will lift a large red sign, as wide as the 30-story building, to its top. The signs on Greektown Casino and Hotel were taken down earlier this summer.

The property was purchased in 2013 by Jack Entertainment, formerly Rock Gaming LLC and part of Rock Ventures LLC, owned by Dan Gilbert.

Construction work for the rebranding started earlier this summer. Besides the new sign, the project will include 1,500 new indoors and outdoors signs, plus a multimillion-dollar interior renovation. In the new Monroe Market, six Jack Entertainment-operated fast-casual eateries will replace five-food options in the Market District area. A new bar will be installed on the casino floor with selections of Michigan wines and Detroit beers. A ramen and sushi restaurant also is planned.

Rock Ventures gaming properties in Ohio and Michigan also will bear the Jack name, including Jack Cleveland Casino, Jack Cincinnati Casino and Jack Thistledown Racino, a thoroughbred racetrack facility near Cleveland.

The company and its affiliates’ properties include 400,000 square feet of gaming space, 400 hotel rooms and 35 bars and restaurants. The company generates more than $1.4 billion in yearly revenue and employs 7,000 people in four states.
