Jamul Casino in California has opened newly renovated high-limit rooms. The redesigned space offers a larger slot room with a dedicated bar, a separate high-limit Asian Games room, and a private high-limit VIP lounge. The space was designed to offer players additional security and privacy.
“Jamul Casino’s new High Limit Rooms are completely custom – from the artwork, to the furniture, to the crystal chandeliers,” said Mary Cheeks, the casino’s president and general manager. “These elegant, airy spaces are a sanctuary of class and sophistication. We are very proud that Jamul Casino’s high-limit rooms rival the best in the world.”
Based on the principles of feng shui, the rooms are designed to bring luck into the spaces. They face northwest and feature elements of metal with white, gold and silver in an atmosphere of understated elegance. Construction was completed by Cell Construction, with custom fabrications by eGads and 3form.
Jamul Casino’s new 1,700-square-foot slot room features privacy walls, columns and light fixtures containing over 26,000 multi-faceted crystals. The space is furnished with a custom-built security podium, Phillip Jeffries wallpaper, and abundant LED televisions with brushed gold frames. The bar top is made of a natural stone from Madagascar, which has a peacock-like iridescence. Mixed media and resin panels clad the front of the bar, and Gary Platt San Remo Bar chairs offer comfort and style.
A separate room for Asian table games offers four Baccarat tables and one Face Up Pai Gow Poker table. A focal wall mural featuring Koi fish features a lucky eight fish swimming in an auspicious circle. A 12-foot, two-tier polished silver raceway chandelier with down-washed LED-lighted crystals hangs over a custom-built 54.5-inch-wide pit stand with a backlit swept gold front panel. The room’s front façade features satin gold metal screens and crystal column wall sconces. The space is furnished with LED televisions with brushed gold frames, Gary Platt Monaco Baccarat chairs, and Phillip Jeffries wallpaper.
A private VIP lounge is available for guests of the High Limit Rooms to relax or make private phone calls. The ceiling is clad with gold mirror panels, and three LED televisions with brushed gold frames embellish the walls. The space features furnishings and decorative pieces by Jonathan Adler, Caracole, and LuxeDecor, as well as a Human Touch Gravis Zero Gravity massage chair.
“The renovation of the high-limit rooms is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring an exciting and memorable experience for our valued guests,” said Erica M. Pinto, chairwoman of the Jamul Indian Village. “I’d like to recognize our casino leadership for their efforts and look forward to many more opportunities that solidify Jamul Casino as the premier gaming destination in San Diego.”
Meanwhile, the Jamul Indian Village Development Corporation (JIVDC), owner and operator of Jamul Casino, closed on a refinance with a syndicate of commercial banks led by Western Alliance Bank. The other lenders were U.S. Bank, Nevada State Bank, KeyBank, First-Citizens Bank & Trust Co., and Columbia State Bank. JIVDC was able to retire all of its high interest pre-development debt and consolidate its financing in a single low interest loan. With this refinance, the JIVDC was able to pay off the entirety of its high interest rate loan with funds from the refinance and significantly reduce the interest rate on its debt, dramatically improving the financial future of the Jamul Indian Village.
“As a greenfield project, we were initially unable to obtain low-interest financing in the bank market. In only five short years, the Casino’s outstanding performance has allowed us to refinance all of our pre-development debt and set ourselves up for continued reinvestment and future success. The terms of this refinancing will allow us to pay off our debt quickly and focus on our long-term financial stability and new projects that will continue to provide benefits for the Tribe,” said Pinto. “We are thankful for the partnership with Western Alliance Bank and appreciate their approach, flexibility and collaboration despite the challenges we faced last year during the Covid pandemic.”
“Western Alliance Bank, together with a syndicate of lenders, were able to assist Jamul Casino with the first phase of its refinance in 2021, despite the sizable difficulties brought about by the pandemic,” said Ashan Perera, managing director, Western Alliance Gaming. “The management team and the JIVDC’s disciplined approach made the 2022 final global refinance a reality. We are extremely honored and grateful for the partnership.”
This transaction is the second refinance the JIVDC has completed in just over a year. A previous refinance completed in 2021 took approximately a year to close after pandemic-related delays. However, due to the Casino’s exceptional performance and continued safe operations, the 2022 refinance was completed in just three months with a significantly reduced interest rate.
