The Hotel Okura Manila, now under construction at Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, has announced the appointment of Jan Marshall as its general manager.
The 170-room hotel is due to open in the first quarter of 2019 as part of the Phase III expansion of the Resorts World Manila casino resort in the Philippine capital, near Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
According to GGRAsia, Marshall is a graduate of the hospitality school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has worked in the hospitality industry in the United States and in Asia, currently as a managing executive officer of Okura Nikko Hotel Management.
“We are delighted with Mr. Marshall’s appointment as general manager of Hotel Okura Manila, the first Okura-branded property in the Philippines,” said Toshihiro Ogita, president of Hotel Okura Co. Ltd. “We are confident the hotel will become a familiar landmark for local people and for visitors around the world, and that under Mr. Marshall’s leadership the property will help bring world-famous Japanese service and hospitality levels to the Philippines.”
The new hotel will be Hotel Okura’s second in a casino resort in Asia, in addition to Hotel Okura Macau at Galaxy Macau, in that city’s Cotai district. Okura plans to expand its global portfolio to 100 properties, primarily in Asia.
