Japan Casinos Won’t Offer Pachinko or Roulette

Japan’s Casino Regulatory Commission has announced the nine types of casino games that will be permitted inside the nation’s casinos. Several traditional games that are popular in Japan—pachinko, pachislot and mahjong—didn’t make the cut. And a popular western game, roulette, also didn’t make the cut.

The permitted games include 21 variants of games now banned in Japan, including baccarat, blackjack, poker, Sic Bo, craps, Casino War, money wheel and pai gow, plus electronic games.

Public feedback on the draft regulations will be accepted until May 9, reported Inside Asian Gaming, then the regulations will be finalized.

It is also stipulated that the current time must be on display to all guests on the casino floor, while ATMs will be forbidden. In relation to casino comps and incentive programs, the draft states, “Nothing that could potentially arouse the passion for gambling may be included.”
