Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party and coalition partner Komeito hoped last week to pass a problem gambling bill before the Diet session ended December 9.

That bill will not be consider until 2018 unless the problem gambling bill is approved.

The bill includes plans to fight gambling addiction that include treatment programs for problem gamblers and “social support” once they have completed treatment.
