Jimei CEO Resigns

Kennis Wong Kwok Leung, appointed CEO of Macau junket runner Jimei International in February 2015, has stepped down. In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company said Wong will remain with the company as a director of several subsidiaries.

Kennis Wong Kwok Leung, appointed CEO of Macau junket investor Jimei International Entertainment at this time last year, has resigned the post, according to GGRAsia. Wong has also stepped aside as executive director of the company, but will stay on with the company as director of several Jimei International subsidiaries. Wong has more than 10 years of experience in the gaming industry, according to reports.

In a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Jimei said Wong was leaving due to “other business engagements” and “has no disagreement with the board.” In a statement, Jimei thanked Wong for his “valuable contribution” to the company during his one-year term.

“The company is in the process of identifying a suitable candidate to assume the role [of] CEO and further announcement in this regard will be made as and when appropriate,” Jimei International said. No interim CEO was appointed, and Wong’s executive duties will be share by other officials.

The junket runner controlled by Jack Lam Yin Lok is one of several based in Macau that have expanded beyond the beleaguered Chinese territory, now in the 20th month of an historic recession. Last February, it made a deal with Crown Perth, a Crown Resorts property in Western Australia. In May of last year, Jimei signed a similar deal with NagaCorp Ltd. to operate at NagaWorld in Cambodia.

In Macau, Jimei runs the Jimei Casino on the peninsula, under license with SJM Holdings Ltd.
