The U.K. trade association bacta has elected John Bollom as its president for a two-year term that will include the association’s 50th year, it was announced in a press release July 31. The association in May unanimously accepted Bollom’s proposal for a new streamlined structure that includes 45 positions.
Also elected to a two-year term was Joseph Cullis as vice president. Cullis owns Windmill Leisure, a Scottish firm.
Part of the new structure was creation of an 11-seat bacta National Council, which now includes three past presidents. Also part of the new structure, a Gaming Council and Amusement Council, both with 20 members.
Bollom told the members: “I’m delighted to become the first National President of what is a new bacta. This is a really important phase in the life of an organization that has served the industry well and which turns 50 next year.”
The reorganization , he said, will create a structure “more aligned with the dynamic nature of the leisure entertainment business” that would “appeal to a broader constituency of bacta members.”
The deadwood trimmed from the organization’s structure slowed “the decision-making process” and will allow for “representing the business interests of our members with gusto, focus and creativity,” said Bollom.
