Jokers Wild Rebuild Approved by Henderson Officials

In a 4-1 vote, the Henderson City Council (HCC) approved the construction of a new casino and hotel for Jokers Wild on October 18, currently located at the intersection of Warm Springs Road and Boulder Highway.

Boyd Gaming, Jokers’ parent company, had to re-submit the proposal for the new buildings on appeal following previous mishaps with construction timelines.

According to Boyd, the development involves two phases—the first phase will involve the construction of a new casino building just north of the existing property. Once completed, a new hotel building as well as a casino expansion will constitute the second phase.

Officials from the company confirmed to the HCC that the current building will be cleared and demolished once the new construction is operational.

Per construction filings, the new casino will come in at 50,000 square feet, and offer six table games and over 600 slots, in the first phase. The building will also include a gastropub and entertainment space.

As far as the new hotel, the 4-story building is expected to include 114 rooms. The casino expansion will increase the gaming floor by 20,000 square feet, and add over 500 more slots and six more tables.

The property was first opened in 1990 as Cattle Baron Casino, before closing in 1993 and rebranding as Jokers Wild when it was purchased by Body.

Boyd Gaming sold its Eldorado Casino in downtown Henderson during the pandemic to Railroad Pass owner Joe DeSimone, who rebranded in the Pass casino when it reopened in 2021.
