Landscape architecture firm Lifescapes International announced that Julie Brinkerhoff-Jacobs, president of the company, will retire at the end of the year after 42 years with the firm. Brinkerhoff-Jacobs said she is stepping down to spend more time with her family.
Brinkerhoff-Jacobs has been an integral part of the firm’s success, overseeing iconic projects such as the famous volcano at the Mirage. She has been active in a variety of professional and charitable organizations, including Urban Land Institute, and was co-founder of HomeAid America.
Throughout her career, Brinkerhoff-Jacobs has been recognized many times for her professional achievements, including Orange County Businesswoman of the Year, Soroptimist International Woman of Distinction Award, and the B.J. Stewart Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Involvement. She said she will continue these efforts, as well as serving as a mentor to Lifescapes employees.
According to the company, Executive Senior Principals Dan Trust, Roger Voettiner and Andrew Kref will continue to lead the firm. “These leaders have been instrumental in our success and are committed to upholding the values and principles that have guided our firm for more than 65 years,” the company said in a statement. “Furthermore, our firm is built on a foundation of talented, dedicated and experienced professionals who will be leading our firm into the future.”
Brinkerhoff-Jacobs has continued the commitment to excellence established by Lifescapes’ founders, her parents Don and Barbara Brinkerhoff.
“We, at Lifescapes, want to take this opportunity to express our profound gratitude to Julie for her outstanding contributions to our firm,” the statement said. “Her legacy will always be remembered and respected, and we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.”
