South Korea’s Kangwon Land has announced plans to build a new slot machine manufacturing plant in Taebaek City, Gangwon Province. Kangwon Land is the only casino in the country that allows South Koreans to enter and gamble.
The company already owns a proprietary slot machine brand called KL Saberi, distributed globally and across some Asian markets, according to Asia Gaming Brief.
According to local media, Kangwon Land CEO Lee Sam-geol met with Taebaek City Mayor Lee Sang-ho to discuss the proposed development.
“The plan for the establishment of a slot machine manufacturing plant is being prepared as a regional cooperation project that can be done with Taebaek City,” a Kangwon Land representative said.
In related news, Kangwon Land plans a $24 million overhaul of its casino floor, growing it by 10 percent to almost 15,500 square meters (166,840 square feet). In 2021, the South Korean government extended Kangwon Land’s casino license until 2045.
