Kansas Crossing Casino, which opened March 29 in Pittsburg, Kansas, reported revenue of 6,000 in its first financial report, according to Kansas Lottery figures. Crawford County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director B.J. Harris noted without the new casino the county would not have benefited from that money.
Harris added although it’s still too soon to measure the casino’s true financial impact, he believes those numbers will increase this summer. He said, “Some people may not realize this, but really our hotel occupancy numbers go up in the summer time. Some of our larger events start to happen in the summer time. You get baseball and some of those youth sports traveling and things going on, so we’re going to see an increase in travelers to our community.”
