Global gaming giant Konami showcased a number of products for the post-pandemic casino industry at G2E Asia’s Special Edition: Singapore held at Marina Bay Sands from May 30 through June 1.
“There’s been a little bit of a reset” in Asia-Pacific markets in the aftermath of Covid-19, sales manager David Punter told GGRAsia. Punter, who oversees sales, marketing and service for Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific, said operators in the region are looking to “refresh some of [their] floors” as gamblers return to casinos.
From the Konami side of things, we’re going to focus a lot more” on content for Asian markets, he said. Part of the company’s strategy is to introduce Asian operators to products that have been successful in other markets.
“One of the Konami advantages is we don’t have 10 slot cabinets” on offering Asia Pacific, “we’ve just got two main ones,” he said. They include the Dimension 49, also available in a ‘J’ curve version and featuring a 49-inch ultra-high-definition main screen; and the Dimension 27, with three 27-inch UHD displays.
A large-scale Dimension 75C cabinet with a 75-inch display might be introduced “later this year or early next year,” said Punter.
Konami’s “Fortune Mint” slot already has a presence at Resorts World Genting in Genting Heights, Malaysia. According to Konami, Fortune Mint offers two original titles, “Fu Gui You Yu” and “Fu Xing Gao Zhao,” both five-reel scatter-pay games with bonus opportunities and three progressive jackpot levels.
The slot game has been “very successful,” said Punter. “We want to get that approved for some other jurisdictions.”
On display at Konami’s G2E booth a new slot product, “Bull Blitz.”
Punter called it “the next iteration” of Konami’s popular “All Aboard” progressive slot, which has introduced numerous versions since its launch. Bull Blitz has some “great features and enhancements,” said Punter.
“All Aboard” has been “one of the most successful products from Konami” in markets including Australia and the United States, he said.
Last month, Konami posted a 50.5 percent year-on-year increase in revenues in its gaming and systems divisions, including casino equipment. The total reached JPY38.57 billion (US$286.9 million), compared to JPY25.63 billion in the previous 12 months, Konami stated.
