Korean Authorities Test Gaming Equipment

Authorities in Jeju Province, South Korea have announced that they will directly inspect all gaming equipment at the region’s foreigners-only casinos to ensure compliance and transparency.

In 2020, the local government implemented new regulations that transferred responsibility for the inspections to local officials. Such testing was previously conducted by the Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials.

According to Inside Asian Gaming, Jeju purchased five types of casino game testing and inspection equipment in October 2019 and hired additional staff to conduct the tests in November 2020.

Jeju has eight foreigner-only casinos, of which three are currently operational. The testing will ensure no counterfeit machines are in use and that none have been tampered with.
