KSA Orders End to Cashback Bonuses

KSA, the regulator of gaming in the Netherlands, has ordered an end to cashback bonuses at online casinos.

CasinoNieuws reported that KSA sent a letter to all online licensees in the Netherlands spelling out that cashback bonuses are illegal because they encourage “excessive participation.”

The letter stated: “De Kansspelautoriteit has recently received signals that there are online license holders who (want to) offer players a loyalty reward in the form of a cashback on their website.” The letter continued, “This is not allowed, because a cashback bonus is a form of advertising that leads to excessive participation.” It also said, the bonus may reduce the perceived risk of gambling among players who are vulnerable.”

KSA informed operators that they must confirm in writing that they have stopped offering bonuses by December 5.
