The Los Angeles Clippers NBA team has announced an exclusive three-year sponsorship agreement with Agua Caliente Casino Resorts in which the casino will be the team’s Presenting Sponsor.
Clippers advertising will feature the Agua Caliente logo, as will the Staples Center and the team’s home.
Tribal Chairman Jeff L. Grubbe last week told the Desert Sun, “We are excited to join in partnership with the L.A. Clippers. The Clippers organization has shown an exceptional commitment to elevating the fan experience inside the arena and beyond. We look forward to the opportunity to extend that sporting experience into our two world-class destinations in the Coachella Valley.”
Clippers President of Basketball Operations Gillian Zucker said, “We’re thrilled to partner with Agua Caliente Casino Resorts who share our philosophy of delivering a best-in-class experience. As the premiere destinations for L.A. residents, our partnership with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians provides our fans with an exclusive opportunity to experience Clippers games within two incredible entertainment and casino resort settings within the Palm Springs area.”
Agua Caliente Resort Spa and the Spa Resort Casino make up Agua Caliente Casino Resorts. The Agua Caliente Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage will be called the team’s “official home.”
The team lost its previous Presenting Sponsor the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians after alleged racist statements by former owner Donald Sterling. The team was sold last year to Steve Ballmer, former chief executive officer for Microsoft.
Kari Stout-Smith, assistant general manager of the resort noted that the casino has been seeking co-branding opportunities. “We could not have asked for a better partner than the L.A. Clippers. From owner Steve Ballmer, the team’s administrative staff to coach Doc Rivers and the players, they exemplify a commitment to excellence and innovation that aligns perfectly with the Tribe’s vision. Unlike typical sponsorship opportunities, both parties came to the table looking to create a unique opportunity to have impact for both brands throughout Southern California,” she said.
She added, “We’re so excited about the partnership and couldn’t be happier at the response we are receiving … we’re working on several opportunities to bring the Clippers experience to the valley and will share those details as they become available.”
