Macau casino giant SJM has signed famed fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld to stamp his brand on of three hotel towers the company is developing as part of its .8 billion Lisboa Palace resort on Cotai.
The six-star hotel, containing up to 270 rooms and suites in a 20-story tower, will be Lagerfeld’s first, and joins another legendary fashion house, Gianni Versace, at the resort. Palazzo Versace, as it’s called, will have about the same number of rooms.
SJM will design and operate a third tower comprising some 1,450 rooms.
The Karl Lagerfeld Group has opened five stores in the region and described the Lisboa Palace project as “an important milestone in the development of our brand and business globally and specifically in Greater China”.
SJM held a groundbreaking ceremony for Lisboa Palace last month and is expected to start construction in the first half with a view to opening in 2017.
