On Friday, June 24, hundreds of people lined up to be among the first admitted into the new million Isle Casino Hotel Bettendorf. The land-based venue was built between its two existing hotel towers, 223 feet from its former riverboat location. Vanna White of TV’s “Wheel of Fortune” attended the ceremonies, along with Davenport native Robert Craig who played football with the San Francisco 49ers as they won three Super Bowls in the 1980s.
Bettendorf Alderwoman and Mayor Pro Tem Debe LaMar said the new casino “is a wonderful thing for everyone in Bettendorf and the entire Quad-City region.”
The property features a 35,000 square foot gaming floor with 1,000 slot machines and 19 table games. The hotel towers, including the recently renovated South Tower, offer more than 500 rooms and 40,000 square feet of convention space. The facility also has two new restaurants, and Kellers’ American Grill will open this summer.
Barry Anderson, president of the casino’s nonprofit partner, Scott County Regional Authority, which holds the gaming license, said since 1991 the organization has distributed more than $76 million in gaming proceeds to
schools, libraries, fire and rescue, parks and recreation, social services, veterans and youth services throughout the county.
Earlier this month the new $110 million Rhythm City Casino and Hotel opened less than eight miles from Bettendorf in Davenport.
