The Las Vegas Advisor, which has run a player-advocate website and newsletter for more than 20 years, has just re-launched its website to offer a smoother and more modern experience to its 15,000 members and up to 300,000 unique monthly visitors.
In an interview with CDC Gaming Reports, Anthony Curtis, who founded the Advisor in the 1990s, said the technical infrastructure was outdated, causing the site to crash frequently. “One of the reasons we were ahead for so long is that we started very early—back in the 1990s—building our website, but we were never able to upgrade that,” Curtis said. “So five years ago, we embarked on a mission to rebuild and redevelop the whole site.”
Curtis added that the element driving the site has not changed. “The appeal of the site is the sort of information that we present,” he said. “we’re like a monster content-creating company for people who visit Las Vegas.” He said the new site places all that information in a very user-friendly format.
The site maintains favorites like Curtis’ “Gambling with an Edge” block, which uses professional players from the region’s casinos to offer advice on the best strategies.
“What this website was created to do was to provide a clean and strong advertising environment, especially for the casino industry, because we’re as good a conduit to their customers as anybody,” Curtis said. “We’re dealing to the casino’s industry’s customers. That’s where we set ourselves up—to become a conduit between the customers and the industry.”
