Las Vegas-based casino architect Paul Steelman appeared before Nevada Gaming Control Board as he is seeking licensing as a gaming equipment manufacturer and distributor as part of a new venture into skill based game design.
The board recommended he be licensed, according to the Las Vegas Review Journal. The Nevada Gaming Commission is expected to consider the recommendation on February 23.
Steelman is going into game design with a subsidiary to his architectural firm Competition Interactive LLC.
Competition Interactive made headlines at the 2016 Global Gaming Expo by introducing Running Rich Racing, a skill-based road-racing game. The game is expected to be the company’s first game for field testing and licensing, the Review Journal said.
At the hearing, regulators cautioned the company to develop regulatory compliance procedures that satisfy the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act since Steelman works in several countries that have had regulatory problems in the past, specifically Vietnam and Russia, the Review Journal said.
