While leaves on palm trees stay relatively the same through the course of the year, the convention business in Las Vegas makes up for it with the blossoming it has provided. Mandalay Bay is reminding everyone who seems to be focusing on the Las Vegas Convention Center expansion they have plans of their own, which has already begun.
An expansion to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center will see 350,000 square feet of exhibit space added, in addition to 900 underground parking spaces. The foundation in the underground garage has already been laid. The project is estimated at $66 million dollars and will be complete just in time for conventioneers in August of this year, while the entire project is on pace for completion next January.
Last year, some 20 large conventions had to be turned down in the city due to lack of appropriate space, and the convention industry is quickly working on a solution to the problem. Stephanie Glanzer, VP of sales for Mandalay Bay, said, “With business volume increasing, this change provides us with more flexibility to host a wider variety of groups.”
