Contract ensures seniority rights
Dealers at three resorts on the Las Vegas Strip have voted 342-27 to OK a five-year deal negotiated by the Transport Workers Union. The deal retains job seniority and paid time off, among other provisions, a union official told the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
“It was certainly not everything we wanted, but they didn’t get everything they wanted,” Transport Workers Union Local 721 gaming director Joe Carbon said last week. “Hopefully we can move forward and continue to build on this.”
Carbon added that the union, which represents some 1,200 people at the three casinos, is “moving away from a strategy of getting in your face to trying to work with them.”
The Transport Workers Union also represents dealers at a fourth Caesars property, Caesars Palace, and Wynn Las Vegas. In 2012, dealers at Caesars Palace ratified an 8.5-year contract.
Caesars spokesman Gary Thompson said the latest deal is “fair for both sides.”
