The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has hired former Las Vegas Monorail Co. executive Ingrid Reisman as a vice president of marketing.
Reisman was senior vice president of corporate communications for the Monorail when the struggling 3.9-mile elevated line was purchased by the LVCVA in November for $22.4 million as a part of a prepackaged bankruptcy.
The authority, which owns and operates the Las Vegas Convention Center, considers the Monorail’s Las Vegas Strip route an important element in the success of the venue, which is undergoing a $1 billion expansion.
The line, which was closed a year ago when the coronavirus pandemic hit, is expected to reopen around the Memorial Day weekend.
The LVCVA has contracted with Western Management Group to run it, and several former executives of the line have taken positions with Western, with the exception of Reisman, who was sought directly by the LVCVA for her expertise in marketing, advertising sales and public relations.
“Ingrid’s institutional marketing knowledge and the continuity she brings from her years at the Las Vegas Monorail Co. will enable us to have a seamless marketing transition of the system,” an LVCVA spokeswoman said.
