Latner Named Playtech General Counsel

Alex Latner has been named general counsel at Playtech, where he will oversee a team of 13 lawyers and an administrative staff. Latner has been Playtech's Berwin Leighton Paisner client relationship partner and has advised Playtech on most of its major transactions since 2005.

Gambling and financial trading company Playtech recently named as general counsel Alex Latner, who has been Playtech’s Berwin Leighton Paisner client relationship partner. In his new role, Latner will oversee a team of 13 lawyers and an administrative staff.

Latner joined BLP in 1998, its corporate finance department in 2000 and became a partner in 2008. He has advised Playtech since 2005, starting with its original IPO on AIM in 2006 and continuing through most of the company’s major transactions, including forming William Hill Online; acquiring GTS, Virtue Fusion, Geneity, Ash Gaming and PTTS; and more recently, moving into financial markets and transitioning from AIM to its current Premium Listing of the Main Market and inclusion in the FTSE 250.

Latner commented, “Playtech is at another significant stage of its continued growth and development, which will provide some fascinating challenges for me and my team as the company’s strategy is implemented.”

BLP will remain as advisors, and corporate partners Gareth Jones and Benjamin Lee now will manage the relationship. Latner replaces David McLeish who served as general counsel for more than three years.
