Casino du Liban, the only casino operating in Lebanon, is seeking assistance to enter the world of online gaming by launching a website.
The casino is inviting international technology firms to partner with it in creation of a platform that would offer various forms of gaming and sports betting. Reportedly the public tender has a January 19 deadline. Bidders must show that they have experience in online gaming technology and can meet financial restrictions. Such companies would also have to demonstrate a revenue of more than $650 million, 75 percent of which should be from gaming.
The potential partner would also have to be willing to invest at least $15 million in the venture.
The casino, which opened in 1959 but closed in 1989due to the open warfare in the civil war-riven nation, reopened in 1996 and has operated under London Clubs International, a division of Caesars Entertainment. Since 2013 it has been the only venue in the country allowed to offer online gaming, or in fact any other kind of gaming. This is a monopoly that the casino has occasionally gone to court to enforce since there are an estimated 700 illegal gaming venues in the country.
