Legends Bay Casino Set for Summer Opening in Reno-Sparks

Legends Bay Casino (l.) is slated to open this summer, the first ground-up casino to open in Reno-Sparks since 1995. The casino will be operated by Olympia Gaming, and will feature a sportsbook with partner Circa Sports.

Legends Bay Casino will open this summer on the Sparks Marina, in what will be the first new-construction casino to open in the Reno-Sparks area in more than 25 years.

The 80,000 square-foot property will feature a casino, restaurants and bars, and will be adjacent to the Outlets at Legends shopping mall. Legends Bay will also include a sportsbook operated by Las Vegas-based Circa Sports.

For Olympia Gaming, the operators of Legends Bay, this marks the end of a long and bumpy ride—the project was originally planned all the way back in 2007, but development was quickly marred by the 2008 financial crisis.

In 2013, Olympia changed course and decided to split the project into two phases. The first phase would involve the construction of two hotels, the Hampton Suites & Inn by Hilton and the Residence Inn by Marriott, followed by the development of a casino. Both hotels were opened in 2018.

Olympia COO DeCourcy Graham told the Sparks Tribune that the property features “several components that make it different” from existing casinos in the area, such as the location, which allows guests to be “plugged right into” the expanding Outlets at Legends center. It will also be one of the only casinos in Sparks to offer table games following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Graham also mentioned that Olympia was excited about their new partnership with Circa Sports, and said that the company was pleased to host “the first Northern Nevada casino sports book operated by them.”

Circa, a Las Vegas-based sportsbook and gaming operator, has had a quick rise after launching just three years ago. The company’s Circa Resort and Casino in Las Vegas is touted as having the largest dedicated sportsbook in the world.

Derek Stevens, CEO of Circa Sports, said in a statement that the company was “thrilled to partner with Olympia Gaming to introduce our brand to a new part of the state.”

“We look forward to bringing an incredible sports book to the property, which will complement the other dynamic offerings Legends Bay will feature when it opens this year,” said Stevens.
