LEX Opens at Reno’s Grand Sierra

In a bid to draw high-spending clubbers to the Reno market, the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino has opened its luxe new LEX nightclub. The $15 million watering hole was designed to appeal to young patrons coming to Las Vegas from the California market.

“Wonderland for adults”

On July 11, Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort and Casino debuted its new nightclub. LEX, a 25,000-square-foot venue with a $15 million price tag, was created to emulate the lavish lifestyle experience offered by high-end clubs in Las Vegas.

“The goal was to create a new destination for outside markets, to give them something the casinos between us and the Bay Area and Sacramento don’t offer or can’t offer,” Ben Schwartz, director of nightlife marketing for Grand Sierra, told the Reno Gazette Journal. “On top of that, we have an elite rotation of resident DJs, as well as special guests.”

The Gazette-Journal called the club experience “a bit like falling into an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for adults.” The massive nightclub has VIP booths covered in red patent leather, and giant red lampshades on top of lamp posts that double as “go-go poles.” In the center of the room is a large water feature that resembles a swimming pool.

We’ll have entertainment that happens in and around the water feature,” said Andrew Burgoyne, director of nightlife for the property. “We want to surprise our guests.”
