The Nevada Gaming Control Board has given its OK to a management company headed by former Control Board Chairman Mark Lipparelli to run the casino at the Westgate Las Vegas.
If approved later this month by the Nevada Gaming Commission, Lipparelli’s group will take over the gaming space at the 3,000-room off-Strip resort from Paragon Gaming, which has operated it since 2015.
Lipparelli, who chairs slot-maker Galaxy Gaming and is a director of Las Vegas-based casino operator Golden Entertainment, complimented Westgate’s investment of some $200 million in the property, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton, and said its management will remain in place.
“I went through a process working with the Westgate folks,” he told the Control Board in a hearing conducted remotely. “They have done a great job with the property. It’s a good team. They have some good high-level managers.”
He said he plans to add two industry veterans to the operation: Bruce Rowe, who has held high-level positions with Bally Technologies, GTECH and Harrah’s Entertainment; and Scott Schweinfurth, who served as chief financial officer for slot-maker WMS, which was acquired in 2013 by Scientific Games.
The Westgate gaming operation had previously been run by Paragon Gaming, the entity controlled by industry veteran Diana Bennett.
