Lithuanian Gaming Regulator Threatens Suspensions

Lithuania has a countrywide ban on gambling promotion. Unigames and Betsson both violated the ban and the Department of Gambling Supervision fined both companies.

Investigation of the Unigames’ Uniclub and Betsson’s Betsafe began in October 2021, according to iGaming Business.

For Betsafe, the regulator pointed to “the most valuable offers and promotions in one place.” For Uniclub, the regulator noted that the operator promoted its live casino offering, as well as telling players they could “choose from 1,000+ casino games.”

The messages on both sites were “aimed at drawing attention to the company, its offer, persuading and encouraging persons to participate in the company’s games. All that is considered promotion.

Unigames was fined €12,662, while Betsson received a €25,000 fine.
