Little River Casino Expansion Nearly Complete

The $18 million gambling-floor expansion at the Little River Casino in Manistee, Michigan will be completed in June, officials said. Owned by the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, a new spa and pool plus several new restaurants also are being added. At least 45 new jobs will be created, said General Manager Ron Pete.

Officials at the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians’ AAA 4-Star rated Little River Casino in Manistee, Michigan, said the million gambling-floor expansion project is expected to be completed in June. Prior to that, the new full-service spa and pool will be ready for Mother’s Day.

General Manager Ron Pete said the additions will create at least 45 new jobs. “We would like to think that we’re partnering with everyone here. And I think it’s an economic boon to the entire community as we progress economically. And in addition to that, as we add staff, all these staff buy cars, they rent or buy houses. It’s all interdependence is how I look at it. We’re all interdependent on each other.”

Three new restaurants recently opened at the casino resort and a fourth, the Asian-fusion inspired Dragonfly, will open this summer.

First opened in 1999, the last major renovation at the Little River Casino Resort took place in 2007. Earlier this year the tribe indicated it would move forward with a new $180 million casino in Fruitport Township near Muskegon, which will create more than 1,200 jobs and attract 1.88 million annual visitors.
