All the pieces are coming together for 108,000 square foot Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel near Murphy, North Carolina to open in summer 2015. General Manager Lumpy Lambert said the community is reacting with “optimism and excitement” about all of the activities taking place on and off the casino site.
Mass grading to shape the contours of the property is almost completed, Lambert said. The next step will be laying the foundation. At the same time, state and local agencies are preparing access roads, building a bridge and constructing utilities infrastructure.
In addition, Harrah’s officials held pre-employment presentations for about 500 people. The project is expected to create 500 construction jobs and 800-900 permanent jobs with a payroll of $32-$39 million.
