Italy could see a merger between Lottomatica and Sisal Italia that would create the country’s biggest gambling operator.
Reports in Italian media say talks are under way for Lottomatica to acquire Sisal in a deal rumored to be in excess of £1 billion. The acquisition would see Lottomatica take over Sisal Matchpoint assets.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica, reported that Sisal officials have revised their options regarding a buy-out, following its cancelled IPO in July 2014. Lottomatica is reportedly the company’s leading choice for a buyer.
The paper reports that negotiations between the two have been ongoing since early 2015, but neither side has commented.
