The first ground-up casino development in Las Vegas in several years is going up on the north side of West Sahara Avenue between the Las Vegas Strip and the I-15.
The Lucky Dragon, though, won’t be a mega-resort with a huge hotel, large entertainment venue, and trendy nightclub.
Instead, the Lucky Dragon will be a more intimate, feng shui-inspired gaming and resort destination for Chinese and other Asian visitors, as well as Las Vegas locals and others looking for a more unique and decidedly Asian-themed experience near the Las Vegas Strip.
Most workers will be fluent in Chinese, with English as their second language, and the property is designed with feng shui consultation to ensure a harmonious gaming and entertainment experience.
Its nine-story, 203-room boutique hotel will be decorated and outfitted with Chinese-themed décor and furnishings, as will the casino. It also will have a lavish, 1,300-square-foot penthouse suite.
Lucky Dragon COO Dave Jacoby recently told reporters the Lucky Dragon intends to make available to everyone the exclusive, upscale experience high-rollers on the Las Vegas Strip get to enjoy, but without the high cost.
Three-fourths of the 37 table games at the Lucky Dragon’s 27,500-square-foot casino will be baccarat tables, along with pai gow and traditional gaming tables. It also will have 300 slots.
Among dining options will be a five restaurants dedicated to Chinese cuisine, including dim sum and fine-dining restaurants. The delicacies will be based on traditional Chinese street foods and provide traditional Cantonese and Mandarin foods.
The Lucky Dragon is scheduled to open in the fall and in June began accepting applications for some 800 positions.
