Lui Che Woo, the billionaire founder and chairman of Macau gaming operator Galaxy Entertainment Group, is no longer in the Top 3 on the Forbes list of Hong Kong’s 50 richest people.
With an estimated net worth of US$14.9 billion (MOP120.4 billion)—down about US$4 billion from last year—Lui dropped to sixth place on the 2019 list.
Others who ranked lower on the list this year include Pansy Ho, daughter of Macau casino kingpin Stanley Ho, who dropped from 15th richest to 20th this year, with a net worth of some US$4.62 billion. She is the chairwoman of Shun Tak Holding and a major shareholder in gaming operators MGM China and SJM Holdings.
Stanley Ho’s fourth wife, Macau lawmaker and SJM Managing Director Angela Leong, dropped two places to 24th, with a net worth of about US$4.1 billion.
Ho’s son, Lawrence, CEO of Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd, and the youngest billionaire on the list at 42, dropped five positions to 34th, with a net worth of approximately US$2.3 billion.
The steepest decline came for Pollyanna Chu, a member of the family that controls the Kingston Financial Group Ltd. Chu dropped from seventh place to 28th for 2019 with a net worth of US$3.3 billion. Kingston Financial operates Casa Real Hotel and Grandview Hotel Macau; the hotel casinos operate under the gaming licenses of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A., reported the Macau News Agency.
