Hyatt Hotels’ luxury Andaz brand will open a hotel at the new Galaxy International Convention Center under construction at Galaxy Macau.
The Andaz Macau, with 700-plus rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar and lounge, fitness facility, indoor pool and dedicated check-in catering to large meetings, is slated for completion with the rest of the convention complex and a new 16,000-seat arena in 2021-22.
Plans call for the phased addition of 4,500 hotel rooms in all, along with 400,000 square feet of MICE space, food, beverage and retail outlets and more gaming venues.
Andaz Macau will be Galaxy’s fifth branded hotel, joining a Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott and a Banyan Tree and Hotel Okura. The resort also is home to its own Galaxy and Broadway hotels.
Andaz, which means “personal style” in Hindi, is among the vanguard of Hyatt brands aimed at Asia’s burgeoning lifestyle travel market. There are a reported 21 currently operating in key cities such as Singapore, Shanghai and Tokyo, and plans are to penetrate deeper into greater China with locations in Taipei, Sanya, Shenzhen and Xiamen.
