LVCVA Mulls Marketing Agreements With International Airports

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is working on deals with international airports to bring in non-stop flights from locales such as Tokyo. LVCVA Mulls Marketing Agreements With International Airports

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is mulling seeking marketing partnerships with international airports to market Las Vegas as a destination.

LVCVA Chief Marketing Officer Cathy Tull said the authority is talking to Edmonton International Airport to market the city with arrangements with discount air carriers such as Air Canada Rouge.

It’s already negotiating a similar arrangement with Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport and American Airlines. This would include a nonstop flight between Tokyo and McCarran beginning in 2020.

The Authority and the airport are working on several initiatives that involve both foreign and domestic flights. But international flights are of particular interest because visitors tend to make extended stays.

Authority CEO Steve Hill discussed how the city will leverage sports to bring in even more visitors. He noted that the Southern Nevada Sporting Event Committee last year created a system of support groups to assist the Authority in developing new events.
