The M Resort, located on the outskirts of the Las Vegas Strip in Henderson, Nevada, is planning on breaking ground on a second tower, according to a release by owner Penn Entertainment. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2023 and be completed in 2025.
The plan is estimated at $206 million and calls for 384 rooms, which will nearly double the capacity to 774 rooms and suites. In addition, there will be expanded meeting space, updated amenities and additional local partnerships that will be announced at a later date. The M has been open since 2009 and Penn has owned it since 2011.
The renovation is part of an expansion of four Penn properties. The others are in Illinois and Ohio. The total cost will be $850 million.
“At the M Resort, the addition of a second tower will benefit from the strong demand in the Henderson local’s market while providing additional capacity for the group business that is drawn to our market-leading resort and amenities, including our highly successful partnership with the Las Vegas Raiders,” said Jay Snowden, CEO and president of Penn Entertainment in a statement.
Penn Entertainment has taken advantage of its proximity to the Raiders practice facility and corporate office, which are about three miles away. Three years ago, they were named “Official Raiders Team Headquarters Hotel.” A year ago, the M opened Raiders Tavern & Grill, billed as the only Raiders’ themed restaurant in the world.
The other Penn properties getting a facelift include two in Illinois and one in Ohio. The Hollywood Casino in Aurora, Illinois is getting a new 200-room hotel and will include 900 slot machines and 50 table games. The cost is estimated at $369 million.
The Hollywood Casino in Joliet, Illinois will be moving from an old riverboat to a new development. They will have 780 slot machines and 30 table games. The cost is $185 million.
The Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio will have a 200-room hotel and new restaurant and bar. The cost is estimated at $100 million.
