M Resort Hosts Groundbreaking for New Hotel Tower

On December 11, Penn Entertainment broke ground on a $206 million, 384-room hotel tower expansion project at M Resort in Las Vegas that will more than double the property’s capacity.

The groundbreaking ceremony featured executives from both Penn and M as well as the entire Henderson City Council. Clark County Commissioner Michael Naft and Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero were also present.

Once completed, the new tower will attach to the existing structure, including underground connections that will piece together new convention facilities.

Hussain Mahrous, the M’s vice president and general manager, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that construction will start in the next 60 days, with a projected completion in the next 18 months, by summer 2025.

Mahrous also said that the ongoing construction won’t affect any of the property’s public areas, noting that “there may be a little construction noise on the property, but we won’t have to close anything.”

The M, which opened in 2009 and was acquired by Penn in 2011, is the official hotel partner of the Las Vegas Raiders, and has also partnered with Foley Entertainment Group, which owns the Las Vegas Golden Knights NHL team and the Henderson Silver Knights minor league team.

Mahrous told the Review-Journal that the property frequently runs into capacity issues on weekends and big events and will welcome the additional space the new tower will provide.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating this day with our team members and key stakeholders,” Mahrous said, as reported by the Review-Journal. “We look forward to hiring new team members and expanding the wonderful offerings that make M Resort a premier destination for visitors and convention attendees from across the country.”

The project was first announced by Penn as part of a $850 million initiative to revamp and expand its properties in Nevada, Illinois and Ohio. Currently, the M offers 390 rooms, 92,000 square feet of gaming space, a four-star spa, and other amenities.

The new tower was designed by Marnell Architecture, and is being built by PENTA Building Group.
