New law was enacted in January 2018
Macau’s Health Bureau has certified 272 smoking rooms in 18 casinos, meaning they’ve been approved under new cleaner-air standards and may be open for business. According to the Macau News Agency, 16 properties failed to apply for the certification; the deadline for applications was last September 28.
The new smoking regulations were enacted on January 1, 2018 and casinos were given a year to be in compliance and also be officially certified. Among the casinos that did not file applications are the Presidential Casino, Waldo Casino and Hotel, Oceanus Casino, Mandarin Oriental, Grandview Casino, Casino Lisboa, Macau Jockey Club, Regency Art Hotel, Hotel Royal Dragon and seven locations of the Mocha Club throughout Macau, MNA reported.
The authorized casinos are in Ponte 16, City of Dreams Macau, Studio City, the Venetian and Sands Macao, Broadway Casino, Fortuna Casino, Wynn Macau, Altira, Galaxy Macau, StarWorld Hotel, Landmark Casino, Emperor Palace, Babylon, Casa Real, the Plaza Macao and Wynn Palace.
