Macau Casino Workers Face Random Checks

A specially appointed inspector will conduct random checks in Macau casinos to see if casino employees are on-property when they’re not working. A proposed ban on staff would affect 54,000 staffers.

Junket workers also could be banned

A special inspector has been appointed to conduct random checks of Macau casinos to see if casino workers are on-site during off-duty hours. Proposed government legislation would ban staff from entering and playing in casinos, a measure that would affect 54,000 employees.

Ho Ion Sang, chairman of the First Standing Committee, says third-party reports may be filed through a 24-hour hotline. The proposed ban is expected to be reviewed by Macau’s Legislative Assembly this month.

Some 8,000 people who work for junket operators will be added to the banned list if it’s enacted.
