Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd. recently announced it will give all employees, except managers, a bonus equivalent to one month’s pay. In addition, the Macau casino operator said 1,300 employees will be promoted or transferred to Melco Crown’s new .2 billion Studio City cinematically themed casino-resort in Cotai, which will employ 9,000 workers when it opens later this year.

Designed with Art Deco architecture, Studio City will offer a luxury 1,600-room two-tower hotel; more than 30 dining options; the Boulevard at Studio City upscale shopping; and a gaming floor with 1,200 slots and 400 table games. Also on site will be the Golden Eye, Asia’s tallest Ferris wheel at 427 feet. In addition, Studio City will include the 30,000 square foot Family Entertainment Center with rides, dining and shopping; the House of Magic live magic show; a 5,000-seat entertainment center; a jungle-themed Lazy River; Pacha Nightclub; and Studio 8, a fully operational production studio.

Meanwhile, MGM China Holdings Ltd. will offer “discretionary bonus payouts” for all non-management team members in February. The bonus, equivalent to one month’s salary, is “in recognition of the Golden Lion Team’s steadfast efforts and success in the past year,” said the firm, which is 51-percent owned by Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts International.
