Macau Legend Expands into Africa

Macau Legend is building a $275 million casino complex in Cape Verde, a group of islands off the western coast of Africa. The company has broken ground on a project that will take an estimated two years to complete.

Project first announced in 2015

Macau Legend, spearheaded by billionaire and former Macau lawmaker David Chow, has broken ground on a $275 million casino resort to be developed off the coast of western Africa, reports Quartz Media.

The 152,700 square-meter (1.6 million-square-foot) complex will be located in Cape Verde’s capital city of Praia and is expected to be finished in spring 2019. A seawall has been constructed at the site of the complex, which will be partially built on reclaimed land that once was submerged, the news site reported.

Macau Legend hopes to attract European and Mainland Chinese tourists as well as visitors from other parts of Africa.
