Macau: No Sex Trafficking Here

Macau’s Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak has denied claims by the United States that women and children in the territory are subjected to human rights abuses including sex trafficking and forced labor.

Macau Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak has issued a statement saying he “firmly” rejects claims included in the 2015 U.S. Department Trafficking in Persons Report that women and children are subject to sex trafficking and forced labor in the Chinese territory.

The report was released in Washington last month. The office says the report’s claims “do not correspond to the true reality of Macau.” The statement also accuses the report of making “unfounded judgements,” and says the Macau Public Security Forces have “zero tolerance” for human trafficking, according to the Macau News.
