Macau Reopens for International Travel

On January 24, Macau lifted its ban on international passenger flights, though incoming travelers still must abide by lengthy quarantines lasting between 21 to 28 days.

A 15-day ban on commercial passenger flights began January 9 after several people arriving from overseas tested positive for Covid-19.

According to Asia Gaming Brief, Macau has listed 22 countries as “extremely high-risk” including Bangladesh, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, Eswatini (formerly Swaziland), India, Indonesia, Iran, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Turkey, the United States and Zimbabwe.

Visitors arriving from those regions must be prepared to present a nucleic acid test certificate (NAT), and will be subject to a four-week mandatory hotel quarantine. Visitors from other countries must present the NAT certificate and serve a 21-day quarantine.
