Residents of Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan no longer need work permits to invest or work in Mainland China, according to news reports. The goal is to shorten lengthy approval processes, especially for investment proposals.

People who live in Macau, Hong Kong or Taiwan and want to work or invest in Mainland China businesses will no longer have to apply for employment permits, according to the Liberty Times.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said the government will do away with 17 administrative regulations for business development including work permits for those citizens. The goal, reported the Macau News Agency, is to “facilitate economic integration” and remove roadblocks to investment for “Chinese compatriots.”
